Play therapy is a type of therapy where play and art materials are used as the main way for the client to express themselves. This makes sense to children developmentally and psychologically.
It is a structured psychological intervention in which trained therapists use play to help children process emotions, understand experiences and overcome difficulties that they cannot yet put into words. It is grounded in psychological theory and has an established evidence base.
